Bettis and Staley's absence leaves second-12 months man Willie Parker as the Steelers wheels for the season/dwelling opener in opposition to Tennessee. Return man B.J. Sams has had hassle holding on to the ball up to now however has respectable yardage stats. New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis (24) intercepts the ball as New England Patriots broad receiver Randy Moss (81) makes an attempt to catch the cross from teammate Tom Brady throughout the first quarter of an NFL football sport Sunday, Sept. New England Patriots and wish to catch essentially the most successful NFL group of the 21st Century, live at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough? The Patriots, who received Thursday, may sit back and watch events develop across the NFL. TE Rob Gronkowski (hip) was restricted on Thursday, although he hasn’t missed any motion with the harm that’s bothered him most of the season. Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Gillette Stadium (Foxborough, MA) Patriots 27, Jets 25 In a 12 months of brutal Thursday Night Football games, the Jets and Patriots supplied followers with a sport price watching.Christmas got here early for the Dolphins D as they absolutely hammered the hapless Jets in a Saturday night time showdown at the Meadowlands. If Sanchez is playing at the extent of his last two games it will be an easy path for the brand new York Jets to make the NFL Playoffs. Led by John Hannah, thought of one of the best offensive linemen in NFL historical past, future Hall of Fame cornerback Mike Haynes, and quarterback Steve Grogan, the Patriots experienced sporadic success in the 1970s and ’80s. Quarterback Kyle Boller continues to be an unknown quantity. Boller doesn't should turn out to be a playmaker, although no one would complain. This squad is going to battle mightily, however you can't remedy all of your issues in one season. It isn't going to happen overnight. Andruzzi has a resume the other linemen will acknowledge, and with three new faces on the road, someone is going to should be the glue to rein in the horses. The secondary is highlighted by security Ed Reed, who may be the actual star on this aspect of the road, and cornerbacks Chris McAlister and Titan acquisition Samari Rolle. For whatever reason (lousy offensive line, no running sport and quarterbacks simply hoping to survive), the passing sport never thrived.Deion Sanders is on this group for some reason. Landing former Patriots defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel is the factor this group needed greater than anything else. Wide receivers Dennis Northcutt, Antonio Bryant and rookie Braylon Edwards have (and have had) the potential to make the Browns a harmful downfield group. Another very good acquisition that may make Dilfer's job easier is former Patriot guard Joe Andruzzi, maybe the perfect in the game at his position. Belichick and his employees do an amazing job limiting the opposition's best weapon, but the Chiefs ought to overpower New England because of their ability-position depth and dwelling-discipline advantage. A real leader who is aware of what it takes, he could not have the perfect arm or legs, however he does his job and he does it nicely. That is all good news for harm-prone running back Lee Suggs who seems to be like he's going to start the season on the harm list once more. Well after this 0-2 begin to the Redskins season, the Hail to the Redskins have received 4 straight games (a "roar" back).I am going to start writing about the New England Patriots and concerning the gamers. Nick Saban's Crimson Tide took a banged-up bunch of gamers who said first of their hearts, we ain't quitting. I think the postman took a vacation mid-week. The Bills took J.P. However, its the Bills and they'll choke, still in the event that they win, half the battle is over as they need help to get in. He must do away with the ball, even if it's to the third row in the stands, and he has to keep away from defenders breadbaskets. If the Seahawks get out to a sizable lead, they can make life miserable for Brady and his offense with their tenacious protection. That could be a sign of the protection getting a 12 months older and slowing down a step. The Ravens will have to pour it on down the stretch, and the schedule needs to be useful, as they have three of 4 at dwelling in December, facing Houston, Green Bay (Monday) and Minnesota, all winnable. Lewis had 146 tackles, down from the mid-160s.

Hillis shocked the world last season by being a player on the Browns actually worth talking about. His 1,100 yard, 11 TD season sprung out of a 5-11 record for the team. As one of the few lone bright spots on the squad, Hillis quietly amassed a fervent following among the Browns fan base and, over the course of EA Sports and ESPN's voting bracket, actually managed to garner more votes than NFL stars like Falcons QB Matt Ryan, Ravens running back Ray Rice, and Super Bowl XLV MVP Aaron Rodgers.

His final competition was Eagles QB Michael Vick, who became the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year in 2010 after a huge regular season run for Philadelphia that led to a fairly typical Eagles post-season--one of abject disappointment. Vick would have seemed the logical, popular choice, though his chances may have been hurt by the fact that he apparently used to be way into killing dogs for fun and profit.

Hillis now need only avoid the Madden Curse, that long-running superstition that being awarded the coveted cover spot of a Madden NFL game is the endorsement deal equivalent of the Sword of Damocles. Gracing the cover has often led to, at best, a sub-par season for the featured athlete, and at worst, some kind of terrible, career-altering injury.

== TEASER ==Though it's hardly iron-clad proof of any Madden-related hoodoo, stars such as Daunte Culpepper, Eddie George, Marshall Faulk, Donovan McNabb, Ray Lewis and Shaun Alexander have all suffered some manner of misfortune immediately following a cover appearance. Vick himself was once a cover victim as well. After taking the cover spot for Madden NFL 2004, Vick missed 12 games of the season after suffering a broken leg... not to mention all the years of financial turmoil and legal torment that followed after his status as an aficionado of competitive dog murder came to public light.

But hey, Hillis is probably going to be fine, and we here at Giant Bomb would like to offer our congratulations to Peyton and the people of Cleveland, who haven't had it easy in recent years, what with LeBron James and the economy and the suffocating weight of nonstop depression and all that. We also extend our condolences to EA Sports, who now have to figure out how to market a video game with a Cleveland Browns player on the cover. We're sure they'll figure something out.

Actually, this shows how insane football fans are. Who would want to vote for their star to be in that spot? "Your favorite player could be possibly injured or have a crappy season, vote now!"

If that was the case they would have just not put him in the running, I didn't see PETA people go nuts over him being the comeback player of the year, anyway congrats to PH

I don't think being upset about dog fighting makes you a freak. Sorry if some people aren't willing to forget about that because he's a good football player...

Thanks!

Peyton Hillis is the man though. I picked him up early in the season for my fantasy team and he killed it just about every week.

this is the correct answer, navarro.

hillis and vick were the two biggest surprises in the 2010 fantasy football season. that's why they were in the finals together. just look over the bracket of players both guys had to beat just to make it to the finals.

sure, anti-vick voters, the brown-stains' fanbase and voters scared of their favorite player getting the madden curse (i'd bet money eagles fans voted for hillis) all had a hand in the win. regardless, the considerable fantasy football fanbase tipped the scales above all.

Also, a ton of the so-called "Cursed" players are just players who end up having a shit season.  No injuries.  Even the best players can have a shit season.  It doesn't matter how great you are, if the 10 other players on the field aren't getting their job done, you aren't going to look all that good.
